TANZANIA SOCIAL SUPPORT FOUNDATION
Office of the Director GeneralTanzania Social Support Foundation is the Non-Governmental Organization that is incorporated under the Non-Governmental Organizations Act, Cap. 56 of the Laws of the United Republic of Tanzania, with mandate to operate in Tanzania Mainland. Since its incorporation on 15th September 2011, the TSSF has been actively dealing with Education, Healthcare, Ending poverty, Environment, Providing Legal Aid Services, Youth Empowerment, Women Empowerment, Human Rights and promoting the Good Governance.

Therefore, the Tanzania Social Support Foundation in collaboration with its funding partners from Seattle, Washington, the United States of America, is inviting the applications for the undergraduate scholarships and tuition waivers to be tenable in the Tanzanian Higher Learning Institutions for the 2017/2018 Academic Year with the view of accelerating the high turnover on enrolment of needy students in the higher educational system of the United Republic of Tanzania.

1.0 Modality of Issuance of Scholarships
Scholarships shall cover the tuition fee, meals and accommodation, books and stationeries.

2.0 Modality of Issuance of Tuition Waivers
The grants shall cover the 25% or 50% or 75% of the tuition fee as per the fee structure of the
respective higher learning institution, and the same to be elaborated on the admission letter of the
beneficiary.

3.0 Priorities for Funding
Scholarships and grants shall be prioritized to applicants who shall be pursuing the teaching or
educational related programs, health and allied sciences, natural science related programs, industrial
related programs, business studies and social sciences’ related programs.

4.0 Eligibility Criteria
Applicant shall be eligible for consideration on scholarship or the tuition waiver if he/she;
(a) is a Citizen of the United Republic of Tanzania.
(b) has been admitted or he/she is expecting to be admitted to an accredited higher learning
institution within the United Republic of Tanzania.
(c) is an undergraduate needy student.
(d) has made a written application in the prescribed form which is accompanied by relevant
attachments that are capable of evidencing the needy situation of the applicant in
question.
(e) is a person who has no financial assistance from any other source or sources to cover the item
or items of cost for which the application is made;
(f) is a continuing student, who has passed the examinations necessary to enable him/her to
advance to the following year or stage of study.
(g) has paid the non-refundable fee of 50,000/=TZS (Fifty Thousands Tanzanian Shillings).
5.0 Procedures for Applying
(a) Collection of Application Forms
Interested applicants may access and collect the application forms from the TSSF
website, by way of visiting the following link https://tssf-org-tz.weebly.com/news.html and
download the application form respectively.
(b) Payment of Application Fees
After filling the application form in a correct manner, the applicant shall be required to pay
the non-refundable fee of 50,000/= TZS (Fifty Thousand Tanzanian Shillings) that shall be
payable directly to the Tanzania Social Support Foundation through the following Bank
Account;
Name of the Bank: Exim Bank (Tanzania) Limited.
Name of the Organization: Tanzania Social Support Foundation.
Account Number: 002 001 4030.
Those who shall fail to access the Exim Bank (Tanzania) Limited at their localities are advised
to pay the application fee through the Halopesa Money Transfer Service to the following
Halopesa Number 0624 700 666. The name to appear before confirming the payments of the
application fee through the Halopesa Money Transfer Service is Tanzania Social Support
Foundation. Also you may contact the Halopesa Agent who is nearby you for further
assistance.

(c) Submission of the Application Forms
Applicants shall be required to submit the application form that is accompanied by the followings;
- Covering Letter (Application Letter).
- Attachments that are evidencing the needy situation.
- A copy of pay-in-slip that evidences the payment of application fee at the Exim Bank (Tanzania)
Limited. For those who shall pay through the Halopesa Money Transfer Service, shall be
required to indicate and state the Transaction ID Numbers that are displayed on top of the
Halopesa post-payment message. The Transaction ID Numbers should be written on the
Application Letter in order to ease the payment tracking procedures at the TSSF.
- Any other attachment as per the instructions that are contained within the application form.

Deadline for the submission of the application forms is Saturday, 30th September 2017.

6.0 Post-Application Activities
Successful applications shall be contacted by 15th December 2017.

7.0 Caution
- Calls and Text Messages with respect to ask for the status quo of the application processing as the
case may be the application receipts shall not be entertained. Physical as the case may be the hand

- All applicants should note that, it is an offence to submit false information for consideration on the
scholarship or the tuition waivers. Also note that any applicant who will give false or incomplete
information, whenever discovered, at either admission on scholarship as the case may be the tuition
waivers or afterwards, shall have his/her admission cancelled and be referred to the relevant
authorities for legal prosecutions.
