Employment Opportunity: Programme Manager
Madrasa Early Childhood Programme - Zanzibar (MECP-Z) is the leading civil society organization in the field of Early Childhood Development in Zanzibar and mainland Tanzania. With over 25 years' experience, MECP-Z is implementing a robust portfolio of pre-primary education programmes, teacher training courses, research and technical advisory services. In 2013, MECP-Z established a Teacher Centre that offers certificate programme on pre-primary education. MECP-Z collaborates closely with the government, development partners and other institutions including Aga Khan Foundation (AKF). For its expanding portfolio of programmes, MECP-Z is seeking a well-qualified and committed professional to lead on programme implementation, grant management and resource mobilisation for sustainability.
Duty Station: Zanzibar
Report to: Programme Director
Major responsibilities:
1. Programme and Grant Management
i. Strengthen/implement a robust project/grant management system to ensure compliance and quality assurance on donor funded project.
ii. Lead on the writing of narrative progress reports for donorand ensure these are of high quality and submitted on time and in full as per donor contract agreement.
iii. Ensure project follow donor compliance regulations.
2. Resource Mobilization and Partnerships
i. In consultation with the PD, lead on and coordinate with AKF to identify opportunities for MECP-Z to apply for or access funding for scaling up.
ii. In collaboration with AKF and MECP-Z technical and partnership teams, lead on project design and writing of concept and proposals for new projects.
iii. In collaboration with finance and MERL teams ensure budget, log frame, and M&E indicators are developed, relevant, and achievable for submitted proposals
3. Communication
i. Lead on the delivery of the communications strategy including the development of regular communications pieces including, but not limited to, the quarterly MECP-Z newsletter
ii. Support the MERL department to identify 'success stories' and develop these into communication materials and dissemination.
4. Team Management
Ensure efficient and effective performance management to the team
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum of Bachelor's degree in development studies, management, economics, social sciences or a related field.
Masters degree will be preferred.
Five years of progressive experience in donor funded organisation, of which at least 3 years of experience in managing donor funded projects/grants preferably in early childhood development or education sectors
Demonstrated experience in resource mobilisation including project design and writing proposals
Provided high quality technical support to project teams as a means to maintain and improve programme quality
Budget and financial management and successful programme implementation
Exceptional English communications skills, able to make strong oral presentations and produce high quality written reports, concept notes and proposals
Must possess good interpersonal skills to engage productively with all levels of staff in addition to excellent communication skills
